裏千家　玄々斎の創案により末広籠の受筒に梶の葉を蓋として運びの水指にしました。七夕の趣向の茶会に使用したと言われています。昔の日本では今のように短冊に願い事を書くのではなく、梶の木の葉っぱに歌を書いて星に手向ける風習だったそうです。梶の葉以外にも桐、蓮、里芋、蕗などの大きな葉が適し、葉茎から汁の出る葉や悪臭のある葉は避けます。葉は葉表を上向き、葉柄を手前にして蓋として使い捨てです。七夕以外にも主に暑中に行われ涼味を出すのに使われます。直径約14×高さ19cm。紙箱入り。
